Maggie

I just watched the trailer for Maggie (2015) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin. The premise is a father is trying to do good by his promise to protect his daughter, who has contracted the zombie virus. Though the zombie genre is getting played out, there’s always room for something surprising, and this film might just fit the bill.

At this point in his career Schwarzenegger isn’t the immortal bad-ass he was in his hey-day. Stepping into the role of a brooding father might be cliché too, but it has the possibility to be a good stretch for his acting muscles.

Actually, this feels like it is the start of a more mature story choice for Schwarzenegger, similar to what Clint Eastwood took in his career. And with King Conan in the works one can’t help but see a reflection of Unforgiven.

In the dearth of good horror films, hell, dearth of good films period, this gives me hope.

Don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself:
